I am a pragmatic environmentalist, with a background in finance, IT management and academic research.
I have an economics degree from Cambridge and a PhD in education psychometrics from UWA. I have worked as an analyst in the banking industry in the City of London and as Credit Manager at an international chemical company in Bentley. My IT clients included a range of West Perth mining and exploration companies
In my retirement I have built a stand alone power systems (SPS) with 6kW of solar panels and a 16 kWh battery on a private circuit at home for less than $10,000. This supplements a 5kVA conventional grid connected solar circuit; and the combined system has enabled our family of five to go beyond net zero. We have an electric hot water system, cooking equipment, garden machinery, climate control and car, and we are net exporters of energy to the grid.
